Artist Analysis

Analysis of I/O's MV ' Wasted My Time'

I / O
With I/O being our chosen artist we felt it was appropriate to look upon his previous in order to link in core themes he tends to use throughout his music videos. This would be picking out certain editing skills used to portray a specific meaning or looking at the lighting used to convey the song writers or actors emotions.

FINAL EDIT

EDIT 5

Evaluation for our fifth edit Through editing and feedback I had come to another conclusion that I was loosing the whole meaning to our music video. I've drifted from the meanings the lyrics are trying to convey. Thus, in our next, and last edit, I will lay out a clearer more precise plan for myself in order to illustrate the meanings of the music video better.

EDIT 4

Evaluation for our fourth edit While discussing where our music video was going, we concluded that we wanted aspects of the artists life highlighted, not a chronological storyline shown in our music video. This has lead me to use the performance aspects in order to make the cutting to the beat help the flow of our music video. When receiving feedback for our fourth edit our audience commented on the use of effects and how it's being over-used, thus distracting them from the actual meanings in the lyrics. In our next edit I will try and reduce the amount of effects.

EDIT 3

Evaluation for our third edit We've added new scenes of the performance aspect in order to make the lip-sync and cutting to the beat more precise. We also added a prismatic effect that goes well with elements seen in our artists music videos and style. However, through feedback, we see that the narrative is still not clear to the audience, making us question our use of effects and performance aspect. In our next edit we will focus more of the narrative and how it's shown to our audience.

EDIT 2

Evaluation for our second edit In this edit we finally show the full edit of the music video, now allowing the audience to get a better idea of what is going on in the music video. However, the lip-sync continues to be a huge problem for us, this leads us to have to re-schedule with our actor in order to re-shoot some of the performance scenes in the theatre location. We also see a problem with our narrative as it in unclear what is going on in the music video, our feedback pointed out that some of the scenes were too long e.g. the car wash. Also, general mistakes made on this edit. In our  third edit we will attempt to fix these problems

EDIT 1

Evaluation for our first edit For our first edit we had uploaded after completing 3:02 of the music video, making it difficult to fully understand the narrative in our narrative/performance music video. From our feedback we also were told that the colour grading in the narrative scenes weren't all the same, taking this on board we noted the feedback down in order to make sure that the colourings all matched for our second edit. Th lip-sync was also a problem in our first edit as the actor playing the artist had not made is lip-syncing clear, we now had to think of a way to make his lip-sync not appear unclear.
